Rising Talent - Kilmacud Crokes

Dublin U13 Camogie Division 1 Camogie Shield champions

The U13 Kilmacud Crokes u13 Camogie team defeated St Finians (Swords) by 5-8 to 3-5 to win the  Dublin U13 Camogie Division 1 Camogie Shield on Sunday October 18th at St Finians.  This concluded a highly successful season for the girls who earlier in the year won the U13 Division 1 league with victory in all their 9 matches.

The Shield final was a highly competitive game with St Finians racing into a 1-1 lead within the first 5 minutes.  However, the Crokes girls fought back well and had a 1 point lead by half time.  Kilmacud Crokes hit a “purple” patch in the 3rd quarter to race into an 11 point lead.  St Finians to their great credit never gave up and would have closed the gap more if it were not for some stalwart defending by Crokes.  Overall the games was characterised by super skill levels, high work rate, teamwork and tenacity, on both sides, with Crokes just holding the edge in all-round ability.

This Kilmacud Crokes team represent a hugely promising future for Camogie in the club.  Combined with the U14 Kilmacud Crokes camogie team, who secured victory in their Division 1 Shield final the previous day against Raheny,

They are well capable of developing into team who will secure top honours for Kilmacud Crokes at more senior levels.  Currently, the team have 9 representatives on the Under 13 Dublin Camogie Development Squad
